This paper aims to explore the dietary references in relation with mental health in the Indian scenario with special reference to Ayurveda and also to conduct a survey to see the possible relation if any, regarding the dietary pattern and mental health. 50 individuals were interviewed for assessing their food habits and mental states from the selected setting based on feasibility, approachability and their willingness to participate in the survey. They were assessed for their dietary patterns using the developed Food Frequency Questionnaire and also their mental states were determined, with the Mental Health Inventory- 38. The study points to a definite relationship between food pattern and mental health status. The details will be furnished in the paper.
